Abstract: The medical exposures have become the largest source of radiation doses to population. Now a day’s film-screen radiography has almost been largely replaced by digital radiography systems. The flexible imaging system of digital radiography can easily result in over exposure to patient without the knowledge of operator. These radiation exposures above no additional clinical benefits must be avoided for optimisation process. In order to prevent the risks of exposures received by patients during radiological examinations, it is essential to estimate the effective doses. The effective dose is one of the best parameters for describing the amount of radiation dose received by a patient undergoing any diagnostic X-ray examination.
