Abstract: To build up the IoT ecosystem, there are several issues and challenges need to be addressed. One of the key challenges in the realization of IoT is the Heterogeneity. The unlimited number of entities are supposed to participate in the IoT network. Earlier, the wireless networks like Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) were homogeneous in some way, but in case of IoT, there will be mobile as well as stationary things as part of the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. The different types of communications exist like short range communication or long-range communication. In this paper, we discuss the various types of heterogeneity in IoT and propose the protocols to deal with the communication technologies heterogeneity issues of IoT. The main aim of the proposed algorithms is to use the ACO approach to obtain the reliable routing path and minimizing the network delay time, packet loss, network overhead and consideration to other such primary factors.
