Abstract: Rangeland ecosystems are continuously declining these days due the uncontrolled spread of mesquite. Prosopis juliflora is one of the most invasive trees spreading in the entire world these days. It was initially introduced in different parts of world to address erosion problems but with the passage of time it has become a crucial invader. Since there is limitation of the data available on the spread of this plant, there is a great need of using machine intelligence to measure and control the negative impacts. This paper has shown a review of studies related to the problems created by P.Juliflora in different parts of world and the high need of Artificial Intelligence as its control measure. Presently, there is very less information is available on the area already occupied by the weed and its removal is performed by manual instruments which are very expensive and time consuming. AI can be used to assess Prosopis cover using satellite imagery and machine learning. The algorithm, powered by AI, can reduce the field work and time to analyse the impacts and growth.
