| Abstract: | Five membered heterocyclic ring structures, oxadiazoles contain one oxygen and two nitrogen atoms. The synthesis of 1,2,4-oxadiazole involves conversion of cyanide to hydroxyl amine followed by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction to form a ringed structure. Ring also acts as bioisostere for carboxylic acid and carboxamide group. Further 1,2,4-oxadiazole derivatives have been evaluated for a wide range of medicinal applications. |
